Once again we had great talent on hand to entertain the troops. Don Barnhart who is a Vegas performer and has a comedy and hpynotist show in Vegas stopped by our Warrior Transition tent with Keith Lyle of “The Hangover” fame to interact with all the sailors who were departing theater this week.
In addition to being a funny man, Don Barnhart also has his own booking agency and routinely schedules visits to military bases in CONUS (continental U.S.) and overseas. He traveled this go around with Keith Lyle, who also has his own Vegas act and was in the knock-down, drag-out, funny to the core, movie “The Hangover”, which was also widely inappropriate for children. I digress.
Both came and entertained for about 45 minutes to a large group of SeaBees who were traveling home. Afterwards, they signed autographs and mingled with the sailors. It may not seem like much, but it is always worth the time spent. Most of the entertainers we see are very personable and like to have socialize with the troops. They travel to various camps and bases around theater and usually do a variety of shows for small and large crowds alike.
By the time I made my way to the WTP tent, things we winding down. I caught the last few minutes of Don’s act and then was able to speak to both of them for a few minutes. Now, I just have to find an excuse to get to Vegas to see them in their home environment when I get home.
